Halloween Fun
Pack 646 marched in the Bloomfield Halloween Parade, handing out candy in some creative costumes. We also had fun at the Halloween party organized by the Wolves and Bears (and help from some adult volunteers--thank you!).

Fall Camping 2017
Thank you to everyone who came out for camping this weekend at Cedar Creek Park and to Cubmaster Kari for organizing it! The weather was gorgeous, if a bit chilly this morning. We had fun biking, fishing, tie dying shirts, cooking dinner and marshmallows over an open fire, and watching some very silly, occasionally comprehensible scout skits. We ended up sharing our camp site with a wedding for a bit, complete with tuxes and limo, which was a first.

Fishing Derby Results
The weather and setting was idyllic for our second annual fishing derby. Unfortunately, the fish eluded us. We did catch a few weeds and fed the fish a few worms. Despite the tricky fish, a good time was had by all. Thanks goes to Kari and Dante Romito for organizing the event! Better luck next time to all our anglers. You'll have a chance to try again next weekend at our camping trip. If you're interested in participating, sign up here.

Welcome (back) to Pack 646 for 2017-2018!
Calling all adventurous boys in grades 1 through 5 for fun with Pack 646 at St. Bede! We have a fun filled schedule planned for our scouts this year including camping, fishing, service projects, building and racing pinewood derby cars and raingutter regatta boats, learning about robotics, and improving your outdoorsman skills.
We have a fun year planned of camping, service projects, sporting and racing events. If you're new this year, here's the quick guide to getting started:
- Mark your Calendar - We meet Monday evenings while school is in session in St. Bede cafeteria. Once a month, everybody meets together in a “Pack Meeting” from 7-8. To keep up to date:
Kindergarteners are welcome to join the 1st graders (6:30-7:30) or can skip Den Meetings and join in our highlights (camping, fishing derby, Pinewood derby, etc.)
- Know your Den - Cub Scouts is for boys in 1st through 5th grades:
- Kindergarten = Lion Den
- 1st grade = Tiger Den
- 2nd grade = Wolf Den
- 3rd grade = Bear Den
- 4th/5th grade = Webelos
- Register - If you are not yet a registered member of Pack 646, please join! To do this, you'll need to complete a registration form and pay dues. Dues this year are $70 and go towards our fees to register and insure the Cub Scouts, supplies for Den activities, Spring and Fall Pack camping trips, and activities like the Blue and Gold Ceremony and Pinewood Derby. We are committed to making sure that every boy who wants to join Pack 646 can do so, regardless of income so if dues are a problem, please come talk to us and we'll find funds to help you out.
- Start work on the Bobcat rank - All Cub Scouts, regardless of age, will always begin by earning the Bobcat rank. After that, they will work on the rank of their Den. Bobcat requirements are in each handbook.
- Have fun! - This is the most important thing on the list. We have lots of fun activities planned but are always looking to improve so if you have feedback, ideas, questions, concerns, please let us know.
We are hosting our annual Welcome (Back) Campfire at 6:30 pm this Friday (9/15) at the Arena at the Guyasuta Scout Camp in Sharpsburg (basically just over the Highland Park Bridge)!
This is a family outing, so siblings and parents are welcome. Games are planned and some of the scouts will participate in building a fire over which the hot dogs will be warmed. If you have other commitments and need to come late, that's fine--we'll stick around until 8:30 or 9.
The food is listed below; however, if you have a preference for vegetarian, please let us know by emailing cubmaster646@gmail.com.
Boys do not need to wear uniforms since they'll be playing in the dirt. We do encourage you to bring a flashlight.
When you come in, you can park in the main parking lot at you enter and then walk along the main road until you see Pack 646--about 1/8 mile.
FOOD
Round one: Weiners (precooked) warmed over a fire and placed in buns with condiments of choice.
Round two: large marshmallows, Hershey milk chocolate candy bars without nuts, graham crackers for smores.
Our full schedule as of 9/15/17 is here. To stay up to date with the latest schedule, please join our email list by contacting Mary and Darrell at cubmaster646@gmail.com.
Here's a picture of our Pack from last year on the field at PNC Park. We can't wait to get started on this year's fun!
